need help finding your friends in dolores park? there’s an app for that.
last summer, lost weekend raised kickstarter funds to turn their basement into a small movie theater, and it is quite possibly my favorite place in the city. a few months later, some local comedians started using the space for stand-up programming, and so on weekend nights the cinecave has become the cynic cave.
the worst thing about 4th of july when you live in the mission is spending the rest of the week wondering “fireworks or gunshots?”

i’m grateful that when it is overcast in the morning i call it richmond weather, because it is only like that here a little bit at a time
and it was a pretty mission-y afternoon: papalote, philz, alley cat, BART
a city really feels like home when you start regularly running into people you know
tea and lunch with lucy at atlas, browsed sidewalk books at dogeared, had a digital detox meeting at mission creek, ate dinner with james at dosa, went to nicky’s hockey game with marika, where i got to wear boots and a cute hat and there was a cowbell.
worked my first shift at the SPCA. took theo for a walk. ran into jeremy. met a baby. drank sidewalk juice. went to a comic book store. shopped at painted bird, where they were playing nirvana and i took a picture of an iowa tshirt. dinner at tataki with jehnna.
renting documentaries at lost weekend, cappuccino and reading at ritual, a digital detox reunion dinner at gracias madre, meyer lemon ice cream from bi-rite in a gluten-free cone, saying long goodbyes on a street corner.
